Thetwo of us

We can’t wait to spend a weekend in South Carolina with all of our favorite people! However you got here, by plane, train, or automobile, thank you to all our friends and family for making the journey to John’s Island.

We hope you enjoy the beauty of this region as much as we do.

Theweekend

Everything happens on the grounds of The Dunlin, so once you arrive you can put the car keys away.

TheDunlin

A quiet, river-front resort on Johns Island, about 45 minutes from downtown Charleston. Board-and-batten cottages, soft greens, deep porches and the marsh right there at the end of the lawn. It is the South Carolina we love, without any of the fuss.

The ceremony, cocktails and reception all take place at the River Barns, a short walk from the guest houses.

Travel &where to stay

We’ve held rooms at The Dunlin so that everyone can be together for the whole weekend. Please book by February 1.

Flying in

Fly into Charleston International (CHS). It is roughly a 50-minute drive to The Dunlin, and rental cars and rideshares are both easy from the terminal.

Staying at The Dunlin

Our room block is under Newman-Hunter Wedding. Guest houses and suites are available at a group rate until the block fills.

Nearby

If The Dunlin fills, Kiawah Island and Freshfields Village are 10 minutes away, and downtown Charleston is a lovely place to spend a night or two on either side of the weekend.

Whatto wear

Saturday is black tie: tuxedos and floor-length gowns, in whatever colors you love. Friday is Lowcountry casual, so linen and sundresses are perfect. The ceremony is on grass, so a block heel or a wedge will treat you kindly.

Goodquestions

May I bring a guest?
We’d love to host everyone, but space at the River Barns is limited. Your invitation will name the guests in your party; if you have a question about it, just reach out.
Are children welcome?
We adore your little ones, but the wedding weekend is adults only. The Dunlin can recommend local sitters if you’d like to bring the family along.
What will the weather be like?
Mid-April in the Lowcountry is usually warm and bright by day, in the mid-70s, and cooler once the sun sets over the river. Bring a wrap or jacket for the evening.
Is there transportation?
Everything is on property. If you are staying off-site, shuttles will run from Freshfields Village before and after the reception. Details will follow with your invitation.
Where are you registered?
Your presence is the gift. If you’d like to mark the occasion, our registry can be found through the RSVP link.

Kindlyreply

We are keeping our guest list on a separate site so it stays tidy. Your invitation will include the name to reply under.
